Developing an Ask
Asking for students, teachers, and community members to sign a petition showing their support for a sustainability policy.
In order to execute gaining support through our digital petition, my team and I presented to a number of different student groups asking for their support. In addition, there were emails sent out to other teacher and community groups throughout the 5 different cities in the Issaquah School District.
When strategizing about what content and specific details to present to city councils, we determined to find language in already public climate action plans and implement those goals into our vision for a school district sustainability policy. This ensures our stakeholders know we are aiming to support and help their goals, rather than compete or shift directions entirely.
